It’s turning out to be a bright summer considering all the stars headed this way. The latest group of actors to grace the capital city include Val Kilmer, Luke Goss, Vinnie Jones and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who will be in Baton Rouge shooting Blood Out for the next few weeks.

Filming begins Monday, May 10, according to director Jason Hewitt, whose Films in Motion is based in Baton Rouge.

“We are excited about shooting here,” Hewitt said. “It means I can sleep in my own bed &hellip but seriously &hellip Baton Rouge is a very film-friendly place and we couldn’t be happier with help from the city, the police department and the neighborhoods we’ll be in.”

Hewitt said the movie will include a big chase scene filmed downtown, with more scenes filmed near the Garden District.

The movie’s plot is thick with intrigue, action and suspense.

Blood Out is the story of proverbial good cop Michael (Goss) who goes undercover in the violent gang world to seek justice for his younger brother, David, who was murdered by members of his own gang. David had been trying to escape their world of crime so he could marry the beautiful Anya (Diora Baird). David was killed as a way of enforcing the gang’s mantra: “blood out.”

Along the way, Michael encounters a human trafficking ring and a villanous international gang leader named Arturo (Kilmer).

Eventually, he is forced into a battle between good and evil, Hewitt said.

51 in pre-production
The film 51 is in pre-production and also plans to shoot in Baton Rouge, according to Emily Morrow, production coordinator.
In this film, the American public has pressured the Air Force to allow two reporters to visit the most secretive base on the planet.
“One of the base’s ‘long-term visitors’ exploits the visit as a chance to liberate himself and his fellow captives,” Morrow said, “and Area 51 turns from a secure government base to a horrifying destination of terror.”
